Earth Day 2016: Celebrating Andy LietzKatharine
This past Friday, the Sunsense Team was fortunate enough to participate in our 14th Habitat for Humanity Earth Day installation for the Dory family of Basalt, CO. The roof mounted solar electric system was a 5.6 kW–our largest Habitat install to date! A special thanks to the generous donations of Suniva, SolarEdge, and BayWa, without which this project would not have been possible!
This year, in addition to collaborating with Habitat for Humanity Roaring Fork Valley to help a deserving family receive a solar photovoltaic system, we also took some time to remember and celebrate the life and achievements of our friend and coworker, Andy Lietz, who recently lost his battle with lung cancer.
Andy, who was on the board of Habitat for Humanity Roaring Fork Valley for many years, was the one who originally formed this lasting partnership between our two organizations. Andy realized that adding solar to a Habitat home would not only help the new homeowners keep their electric bills down, but also help integrate more clean energy into our community.
We are happy that we get to keep his memory alive by continuing this tradition.
Overall, it was a wonderful day to install some solar. Here are some more pictures from the event. We are already looking forward to our next Habitat for Humanity project!
