COMMERCIAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE

The Commercial Sales Representative will work from our Carbondale office. This position entails full engagement with all Sunsense departments (Operations, Design, Procurement, Accounting and Marketing) and requires a skill set capable of growth within the company.

 

Qualifications: Commercial Sales

Primary Tasks: Commercial Sales
  • Commercial sales for systems 50-500kW w/ Western Colorado focus.
  • Relationship building, primary contact for project development.
  • Create commercial lead generation strategy.
  • Research and qualify commercial leads.
  • Assist with site evaluation, system design, equipment specification.
  • Estimate project costs.
  • Prepare written proposals and respond to RFPs with site work and supporting documentation.
  • Understand and propose financing strategies for projects (3rd Party, PPAs, leases/loans, C-PACE).
  • Prepare ROI spreadsheets, cash flow analysis, etc.
  • Support inside sales team with best practices for commercial sales <50 kW.
  • Support outside sales consultant with pursuing commercial sales.

STAFF ELECTRICIAN

Sunsense Solar is seeking a Master Electrician to join our team. The Staff Electrician will oversee all job tasks related to the electrical work involved in commercial, residential, and storage (battery) based photovoltaic systems, both on and off the grid. These tasks include installation, maintenance and management of Sunsense electricians and apprentices as well as some estimating and design assistance. This position is based in the Carbondale office and is supervised by the Operations Manager. Field / office ratio is estimated at 80% / 20%.

 

Qualifications:
  • Attention to safety, quality and detail are paramount.
  • Applicant must have a current Colorado State Master Electrician’s License in good standing and commensurate field experience.
  • Applicant would be responsible for ensuring license remains in good standing, with support from company Continuing Education Program.
  • Additional certifications (preferred but not required):
  • NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional.
  • OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 / OSHA 500.
  • Strong knowledge of current NEC, NFPA70e, Local Codes and OSHA requirements for electrical work. PV specific training is available through our Continuing Education program.
  • Must be able to read and interpret instruction manuals, written guidelines, codes and regulations, construction specifications, single line diagrams, and electrical plans.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills; be able to effectively lead and work with others in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs, have full range of motion in both upper and lower body and work for extended periods of time in hot and cold environments such as attics and rooftops in all four seasons.
Primary Tasks – Installation & Maintenance:
  • Responsible for the installation and wiring of all AC equipment on residential, commercial, & battery based projects.
  • Responsible for working with the Service Department to troubleshoot and resolve all AC related service and maintenance work.
  • Responsible for managing any other licensed electricians working on Sunsense projects and ensuring that all AC work is of good quality and compliant with current NEC and local codes.
  • Responsible for communicating with non-Sunsense jobsite electricians on Sunsense projects to ensure that AC equipment is installed correctly.
  • Responsible for teaching and managing apprentices and other licensed electrical staff attached to the Master’s license.
Primary Tasks – Design & Estimating:
  • Assist Residential and Commercial Sales associates and Designers to specify AC equipment and estimate equipment costs and labor associated with AC work.
  • Maintain and update residential AC estimating matrix.
  • Assist Off-Grid and Battery Backup sales associates and designers to specify AC equipment and estimate equipment costs and labor associated with AC work on off-grid and battery backup projects.
  • Assist Service Department to estimate equipment & labor costs of all AC related service work.
Primary Tasks – Safety:
  • Responsible for ensuring all AC work is completed to OSHA standards, that appropriate PPE is being used when required, and that lock out/tag out practices are followed.
  • Responsible for working with Operations Manager to develop and maintain best practice safety protocols for all electrical work.

SERVICE, O&M AND OFF-GRID MANAGER

The Service/Off-Grid/O&M division at Sunsense handles a wide range of tasks. The Manager will oversee technicians in Service, Off-Grid and O&M environments, manage projects at many scales, write proposals and reports and run division operations. This person will be chiefly focused on managerial and developmental tasks, but should be able to fulfill the role of a Lead Technician when called for. This job would best fit someone with a broad and deep knowledge of PV installation and repair who is looking for a multi-faceted, high-paced role with a growth trajectory.

 

Qualifications:
  • Previous solar installation experience including battery storage applications and equipment programming. Formal education in this area also a plus. This person should be comfortable in any PV environment.
  • Any/all of the following are preferred: NABCEP PVIP, OSHA 10/30, First Aid, IR certification. Can also be on a proven path towards any/all of these. General construction experience also a plus.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PDF software and various PV monitoring platforms as well as a general comfort level working with technology is required.
  • Must be physically able to perform all job tasks.
  • Be able to think on your feet, make adjustments & decisions in the office and field as required.
  • Possess a hard-working attitude, be highly reliable, have attention to detail and a curious nature.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Primary Tasks: 80+% office, 20%- field
General/Managerial:
  • Coordinate billing, invoicing and vendor payments with Accounting.
  • Review and approve division timesheets.
  • Collect and deliver QA/QC, product and other feedback to crews and other departments.
  • Update and implement division policies in concert with Operations Manager.
  • Schedule, dispatch, lead and train technicians to complete projects within established policies and procedures.
  • Develop ideas on increasing division revenue and profitability while maintaining a high bar for safety and quality.
Service:
  • Respond to service-related inquiries regarding PV system functionality and performance.
  • Support technicians from the office. When field work is required, safely and efficiently perform such on-site tasks such as system and equipment inspection, documentation, performance evaluation, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with OEM support centers to resolve service case and warranty issues. Complete troubleshooting and/or replacement procedures and required documentation. Track billing and warranty reimbursements.
  • Make warranty determinations (Workmanship) and/or advocate for Sunsense clients with OEMs.
  • Complete necessary service documentation in a detailed and timely manner.
Off-Grid:
  • Sales – Perform site visits, communicate with clients, do initial sales engineering, create estimates and drive contract execution.
  • Estimating – Create both pre- and post-contract job estimates.
  • Design – Coordinate with the Design department and prepare permit applications.
  • Project management – Secure permits, schedule crew(s), subcontractors and other resources and manage billing. Draft project safety plans and other documentation as needed.
O&M:
  • Create and edit report templates and use various metering/testing tools to perform on-site system evaluations. Collect and analyze data and generate reports. Train technicians on safe / accurate use of testing equipment.
  • Fulfill on-site O&M tasks such as inverter maintenance and performance testing, combiner and string-level maintenance and testing, module and site inspection and system documentation.
  • Maintain high levels of quality with an emphasis on safety.
  • Seek out new O&M contracts and renewal of existing ones.
Compensation:

LEAD PV INSTALLER

The Lead PV Installer completes grid-tied PV projects to the highest levels of safety and quality as the head of their team, ensuring conformance with the system plans and specifications. This job is mainly focused on residential projects, but may at times include small-scale commercial systems. Applicants without previous PV experience will not be considered for this role.

 

Qualifications:
  • Previous solar installation experience on roof- and ground-mounted PV systems required.
  • Previous experience leading solar PV projects preferred.
  • NABCEP PV Certification and OSHA 10/30 are strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Must have full range of motion in upper and lower body and the ability to work in various positions during all seasons. This includes, but is not limited to: stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time in high and low temperatures.
  • Installing at height is a significant part of the job, so being comfortable working safely and efficiently off the ground, on steeply pitched roofs and on ladders is required.
  • Prior experience installing and using OSHA compliant fall protection, positioning and roof access systems strongly preferred. Training provided.
  • Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Think on your feet, make adjustments & decisions in the field as required.
  • Possess a calm, professional demeanor and customer service skills.
  • Experience with conduit bending, route planning and associated building and electrical codes strongly preferred.

PV INSTALLER

Qualifications:
  • Previous solar installation experience and/or technical education a plus, but not required. Curiosity and passion are most important.
  • Entry-Level or higher NABCEP certification, general construction experience, OSHA 10/30, First Aid certification are plusses, but not required. We can and will provide training.
  • You must have full range of motion in your upper and lower body, the ability to work in various positions & environments, including, but not limited to: stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time, indoors and out, in all seasons.
  • Rooftop work is a significant part of this job. Going up and down ladders, at times working on steep pitches and in general being able to work comfortably, safely and efficiently at heights is part of the role. Fall protection, roof access and positioning training will be provided.

  • Care for and maintain gear, tools, equipment, vehicles and other company property. Report deficiencies promptly.
  • Assist in stocking, cleaning and maintaining an orderly warehouse.

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Sunsense Solar is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to help assist and oversee our Accounting Department. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices and developing internal accounting controls. The successful candidate will report directly to the company president while working with all department leaders and play an instrumental role in the financial success and future of Sunsense Solar.

  • Assess the requirement of funds & working capital.
