SERVICE, O&M AND OFF-GRID MANAGER

 The Service/Off-Grid/O&M division at Sunsense handles a wide range of tasks. The Manager will oversee technicians in Service, Off-Grid and O&M environments, manage projects at many scales, write proposals and reports and run division operations.  This person will be chiefly focused on managerial and developmental tasks, but should be able to fulfill the role of a Lead Technician when called for.  This job would best fit someone with a broad and deep knowledge of PV installation and repair who is looking for a multi-faceted, high-paced role with a growth trajectory.

Qualifications:

  • Previous solar installation experience including battery storage applications and equipment programming. Formal education in this area also a plus.  This person should be comfortable in any PV environment.
  • Any/all of the following are preferred: NABCEP PVIP, OSHA 10/30, First Aid, IR certification. Can also be on a proven path towards any/all of these. General construction experience also a plus.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PDF software and various PV monitoring platforms as well as a general comfort level working with technology is required.
  • Must be physically able to perform all job tasks.
  • Be able to think on your feet, make adjustments & decisions in the office and field as required.
  • Possess a hard-working attitude, be highly reliable, have attention to detail and a curious nature.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Primary Tasks: 80+% office, 20%- field

General/Managerial:

  • Coordinate billing, invoicing and vendor payments with Accounting.
  • Review and approve division timesheets.
  • Collect and deliver QA/QC, product and other feedback to crews and other departments.
  • Update and implement division policies in concert with Operations Manager.
  • Schedule, dispatch, lead and train technicians to complete projects within established policies and procedures.
  • Develop ideas on increasing division revenue and profitability while maintaining a high bar for safety and quality.

Service:

  • Respond to service-related inquiries regarding PV system functionality and performance.
  • Support technicians from the office. When field work is required, safely and efficiently perform such on-site tasks such as system and equipment inspection, documentation, performance evaluation, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with OEM support centers to resolve service case and warranty issues. Complete troubleshooting and/or replacement procedures and required documentation.  Track billing and warranty reimbursements.
  • Make warranty determinations (Workmanship) and/or advocate for Sunsense clients with OEMs.
  • Complete necessary service documentation in a detailed and timely manner.

Off-Grid:

  • Sales – Perform site visits, communicate with clients, do initial sales engineering, create estimates and drive contract execution.
  • Estimating – Create both pre- and post-contract job estimates.
  • Design – Coordinate with the Design department and prepare permit applications.
  • Project management – Secure permits, schedule crew(s), subcontractors and other resources and manage billing. Draft project safety plans and other documentation as needed.

O&M:

  • Create and edit report templates and use various metering/testing tools to perform on-site system evaluations. Collect and analyze data and generate reports.  Train technicians on safe / accurate use of testing equipment.
  • Fulfill on-site O&M tasks such as inverter maintenance and performance testing, combiner and string-level maintenance and testing, module and site inspection and system documentation.
  • Maintain high levels of quality with an emphasis on safety.
  • Seek out new O&M contracts and renewal of existing ones

 Compensation:

  • Starting salary $45k-55k, depending on experience

SERVICE, O&M AND OFF-GRID LEAD TECHNICIAN

The Service Department at Sunsense handles a wide range of tasks.  The Off-Grid Lead Technician must be prepared to be in the field doing physical work as well as in the office writing reports and completing documentation.  Someone in this role needs to be able to lead and safely train other technicians in service work, as well as performing the technical aspects of the job.  While this role has a focus on Off-Grid work, flexibility is required as you will also be working on grid-tied systems of all sizes.

Qualifications:

  • Previous PV installation experience and/or education including battery applications. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a broad range of PV environments.
  • Possess any/all of the following: NABCEP, OSHA 10/30, First Aid, CO Electrical Licensure, IR training. Alternatively, be on a proven path towards these certifications.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PDF software and PV monitoring platforms as well as a general comfort level working with technology.
  • Be able to inspect, install, wire and program PV equipment in a functional and Code compliant manner.
  • Be physically able to perform all job tasks and be comfortable working at height, on rooftops and with fall protection systems. Training provided.
  • Think on your feet, make adjustments & decisions in the field as required.
  • Possess a hard-working attitude, be highly reliable, pay attention to detail and have a curious nature.

Primary Tasks: 90% field, 10% office

  • Work and train under Service/Off-Grid/O&M Manager to complete projects within established policies and procedures.
  • Safely inspect, install, troubleshoot and/or replace PV components including modules, batteries, charge controllers, inverters, distribution equipment etc. in a Code-compliant and high-quality manner.
  • Field service-related inquiries regarding PV system functionality and troubleshooting.
  • Thoroughly communicate with site contacts.
  • Work with OEM support centers for service case issues and complete troubleshooting and/or replacement procedures and required documentation. Track RMA and Warranty processes.
  • Complete necessary documentation in a detailed and timely manner.
  • Collect, organize and analyze test data for report generation using metering tools, cameras and software.
  • Work individually and as a team to fulfill on-site O&M contract tasks such as inverter maintenance and performance testing, combiner and string-level maintenance and testing, module and site inspection, and system documentation.

COMMERCIAL PROJECT MANAGER

This position entails full engagement with all Sunsense departments (Sales, Design, Procurement, Operations, Accounting and Service) and will be focused on delivering complete commercial projects ranging upward from ~50kW.  This position will be based in our Carbondale office.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the PV industry including (but not necessarily limited to):
    • Knowledge of PV products (modules, racking, inverters, BOS, DAS)
    • Knowledge of various system topologies and their installation and safety implications
      • Solidly grounded, functionally grounded, bipolar, pole- ground- and roof-mounted, etc.
    • PV installation experience at the commercial scale a plus
    • PV project management experience
    • Currently possess or be on a proven path towards various certifications: NABCEP, CO electrical licensure, OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR
  • Computer proficiencies: MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, CAD, web applications
    • This role interacts with computers in many ways. Facility with technology a must.
  • “People person” with good phone skills and solutions-oriented communication style
    • Besides the technical development of projects, it is the PM’s role to thoroughly communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Be detail oriented and organized

Primary Tasks:

  • Manage projects from contracted sale to final completion per contract terms
    • Includes (but is not limited to) coordinating: post-contract design, estimating, permitting, rebate & utility applications, technical development, safety planning, procurement, mobilization, site services, installation, accounting and project close-out.
  • Schedule installation teams in concert with Operations Manager and Residential PM
  • Be the main point of contact with project stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Ensure safety and quality compliance
  • Coordinate shipping/receiving for your projects with Procurement and Warehouse Specialist; some lifting required
  • Contribute to warehouse organization, equipment inventory, mobilization efficiency
  • Communicate needs for maintenance and purchase of tools, trucks and safety equipment under your purview with Operations Manager.
  • This role is ~85% office and ~15% field work, travel may be required

LEAD PV INSTALLER

The overall goal of the Lead PV Installer is to achieve completion of projects with the highest levels of safety, quality and efficiency while ensuring conformance with the system plans and specifications.  Applicants with no solar experience will not be considered for this role.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of previous solar installation experience on roof- and ground-mounted PV systems.
  • NABCEP Certification and OSHA 10/30 are strongly preferred
  • Must have full range of motion in upper and lower body and the ability to work in various positions & environments. This includes, but is not limited to: stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time in high and low temperatures
  • Rooftop work is a significant part of the job, so being able to work safely and efficiently off the ground is required
  • Ability to lift, pull and push materials and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Ability to think on your feet, make adjustments & decisions in the field as required

SOLAR PV INSTALLER

The overall goal of the PV Installer is to achieve completion of projects with the highest level of safety, quality and efficiency as an integral member of the installation team.

Qualifications:

  • Previous solar installation experience a plus.
  • Entry-Level NABCEP certification, general construction experience, OSHA 10/30 are preferred
  • Must have full range of motion in upper and lower body; ability to work in various positions & environments, including, but not limited to: stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time in hot and cold temperatures
  • Rooftop work is a significant part of the job, so being comfortable with ladders, working on steep pitches, using fall protection & positioning gear and in general being able to work safely and efficiently off the ground / on rooftops is required
  • Ability to lift, pull and push materials and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Ability to think on your feet, make adjustments & decisions in the field as required

  • Load and unload trucks in a careful, professional manner. Care for and maintain gear, tools, equipment, vehicles and other company property

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Sunsense Solar is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to help assist and oversee our Accounting Department.  The Staff Accountant will be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices and developing internal accounting controls.  The successful candidate will report directly to the company president while working with all department leaders and play an instrumental role in the financial success and future of Sunsense Solar.

Primary Tasks – Financial Management:

  • Analyze accounting & financial information for entry in accounting data base system

  • Assess the requirement of funds & working capital
  • Monthly JE’s per accounting procedure and policy
  • Monitor fixed assets and purchases
  • Annual tax preparation, work with current CPA

Primary Tasks – Accounting Practices:

  • Manage day-to day accounting operations, data entry, reconcile operating and GL accounts, statements
  • Sales and Use tax processing and payments per jurisdiction
