Sunsense in the Community

It’s the season for giving and most importantly for remembering our neighbors that may need help, not just now but throughout the year.

Sunsense is well known for participation in community based projects and every year Sunsense dedicates many hours of staff time to organizing equipment donations and coordinating labor and sub contractor services to provide solar energy systems to non profit organizations in our area.

One of the most fruitful partnerships has been with Habitat for Humanity. Since 2008, Sunsense has worked with Habitat on 10 homes here in the Roaring Fork Valley, providing donated or low cost equipment and skilled photovoltaic installers, who volunteer their time to complete the solar energy systems.

This year we also had the opportunity to help Colorado Animal Rescue (CARE) and are thankful for the generosity of many subcontractors and service providers that donated time and materials, as well as the generous benefactors that made it possible to install a solar energy system to power the CARE facility.

Solar energy systems are great for controlling escalating electricity costs and lowering operational overhead, but many of the organizations that need this the most just cannot afford the up front cost . Non-profit organizations that serve the most vulnerable members of our society deserve a helping hand and Sunsense is grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community.
